Got a skin from you which I'm installing. The instructions on how to install mention nothing about all the variations on the file name, +, #, # +.

    What do they mean?

This is a good explanation from Sektor:

Pound Sign (#) refers to a heavier version of the skin. It might not be much heavier than the non pounded styles, but it does take a little bit more time to load (not much). If you cant figure it out, usually a heavy skin involves the categories to have a small category footer.

Now, you can do the math...

Skin :: Fixed Width, Not Heavy
Skin + :: Full Width, Not Heavy
Skin # :: Fixed Width and Heavy
Skin # + :: Full Width and Heavy

Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that the skins with the # symbol were ones that have a legacy postbit which is an author column down the left side of each post - as opposed to the new style of postbit which is an author row across the top of each post (the vBulletin default). I've been reading them like this:

Skin is fixed-width design with new-style postbit
Skin + is fluid design (fills the browser window) with new-style postbit
Skin # is fixed-width design with legacy postbit
Skin # + is fluid design with legacy postbit

I've noticed no other differences between the standard four variations of a skin set except fluid vs. fixed design and legacy vs. new-style postbit or a combination of those.

    Yes, you're right.

So far as I know this has changed since version 3.5.2. Since 3.5.2 "#" is the legacy postbit and before it was the "heavy" version of the style...

I just purchased vBulletin at 3.5.4 so never saw the earlier skin sets...I would have been interested in seeing the heavy styles. Thanks.
