We are a very small womens board an want to run the Aria Liquid skin REALLY badly, however a competeing womens board has this skin in mind for themselves and we dont want the hassle. To prevent this we would like to slightly tweak the skin to have a light greenish olive grad instead of a blue one, basically replacing all the blue fields on the board with the grad weve created. I am not sure how hard this will be to do and since we dont have deep pockets I need to research it BEFORE I buy. I need to know how much it would cost to pay someone to tweak it for me if I cannot do it myself and what it would entail for me to attempt it. If anyone could help I would much appreciate it. We usualy run a IPB however as of tomorrow we will have a VB and I want to skin it before I mod it.

Thanks,

Jo

PS - Im uploading an image of what we want done to it so that you all can see the minor tweak we are talking about..... All we did was play with hue and sat in PSP so its not EXACTLy but you get the idea...

That's possible. It's extremely easy to do. As for the price, I may be wrong, but I think it would be free. In my opinion, it's too simple to cost anything for the mod.

Also, why dont you buy the template before the other board does?

its really a LONG story, im not to sure they havent already and at this point my ONLY concern is that we dont have the same colors... PLUS my admin are a tad more patial to greens than blues. It looks asthetically pleasing and matches what we are shooting for for our home page.

One last question.... can we do a custom header, or do we have to use the one thats there. By custom i mean, can we take away the boxy feel and make it just the background of the whole board up there and have a free floating banner????? If not do you make that???

Are all of these things something as simple as CSS variations and tinkering in Photoshop??? I happen to be more used to IPB and NOTHING is that easy on IPB.

Thanks for your quick reply sektor, and btw - you all have just about the nicest skins for VB i have seen but someone needs to create some more feminine less techy skins, youll make a fortune cuz we are all out there looking and we can find nothing.

Hi LadyJo

Yes indeed, this can certainly be done but I am not so sure that Sektor is totally right in implying that this would be (1) easy and (2) free.

vB does have a fantastic method of skinning a forum, and applying these new skins/themes to your site. To ammend the CSS and other elements in the style is certainly a straightforward task using vB - however, this would take some time in your case as you wish for the images used within the style to be modified accordingly as well.

I know there is a Chlorophyl (greenish) colour available for the Aria skin already. You might like to have a lookie at this one. Aria itself comes with 18 layout variants and with 5 colour variants. I also believe there are a few more colour variants available on vBStyles forums somewhere.

The way to achieve this is, as you rightly suggest, is all done in Photoshop or a similar graphical application. You can take the stock images supplied with Aria and ammend any of them to suit your choice of colour. You seem to have a good idea of the colours you want on your forum in mind, and as such, using Photoshop to ammend the images to use the colours is what you would need to do.

As for the header - vB templates are html and thus are 100% customisable. You can ammend the header to make it look exactly as you desire. It does not have to have ANY existing look or feel. Remember, the Aria header supplied with the Aria theme was designed to compliment the Aria style - this doesn't mean it will suit the purposes of everyone who uses Aria... feel free to ammend this as you require. We can help you on the forums by offering advice and support, but for us to take this on as work would need to be paid for - for obvious reasons I'm sure you'll agree.

Re Banner: if you mean advertising banner then "yes" or if you mean header banner then also "yes" - vB is that easy to use.

Please shout if there's anything else you need from us... we look forward to helping you develop a unique alternative of the Aria theme for your web/forum.

kind regards
John
