A standalone forum is a forum that is not set as child of another forum or category.
Most skin websites are using the traditional separate category mod that allow you to use conventional forum layout for Example:
- Category 1
-- forum 1 (child of category 1)
-- forum 2 (child of category 1)
- Category 2
-- forum 3 (child of category 2)
-- forum 4 (child of category 2)
However when your forum incorporate Standalone forums it will break the layout of most non and commercial skins on the market :confused:
This is why we have introduced a custom "conditional" in the templates that needs to be edited during the skin installation to allow the use of complex forums layout for: Example:
- Category 1
-- forum 1 (child of category 1)
- forum 2 (no parent)
- Category 2
-- forum 3 (category child of Category 2)
--- forum 5 (child of Category 2)
-- forum 4 (child of category 2)
- Forum 6 (no parent)
